What's the story?

Real Madrid defender Sergio Reguilon is confident that his team will bounce back from their horrendous campaign, stating that they will surely win a major title next season.

In case you didn't know...

Los Blancos endured one of their worst campaigns following the brief departure of Zinedine Zidane last summer. The club went through two managers, Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari, but still failed to find their previous lethal form.

The club crashed out of the Champions League and the Copa del Rey before Zidane was re-appointed as manager of the disillusioned side.

The Madrid outfit not only faced a number of embarrassing defeats to arch-rivals Barcelona in Spain, but they also finished 19 points behind the Catalan giants, who went on to become La Liga champions this term. The gap marks the first time since 1990-91 that Real Madrid finished behind Barcelona by such a big margin.

The heart of the matter

Reguilon, who was among the few bright points of the season, has addressed Real Madrid's present crisis and has revealed that he has turned down offers from certain clubs because he believes his side will establish a major comeback next season.

When Goal asked the defender about a possible comeback next campaign, he replied,

"Yes, yes, 100%! We will win one of the three big titles next year, 100%."
"I have offers from abroad, from Europe. I would prefer to play abroad, but above all, I would prefer to stay at Real Madrid. There are a lot of rumours but that's up to the management of the club."
"I know that the club is very happy about what I have achieved this year and I trust in myself, in what I have done, in the coach, in my contract... I think we are going to reach a good conclusion for everyone."

On the summer reinforcements, Reguilon said,

"It looks like a whole football team is coming! It's a topic that does not concern me. I am very happy with my team-mates, we know we can give so much more. But, of course, anyone who comes will be welcome."

What's next?

Real Madrid will return to action at the International Champions Cup where they will face Bayern Munich on July 21.
