Central midfielder: Sami Khedira (Juventus)

Sami Khedira was signed by Real Madrid from Stuttgart after the German midfielder signed a contract until 2015. Although he was a prop in the club's midfield in the early years, he later fell down the pecking order with Carlo Ancelotti choosing to play his compatriot and new signing Toni Kroos in central midfield.
As a result, the boardroom allowed him to leave the club on a free transfer in 2015 and Juventus managed to strike while the iron was hot. The Italian club swooped in for the 2014 World Cup winner and the move turned out to be one of the shrewdest coups in The Old Lady's history.
Since joining them, Khedira has proved to be a vital component in Juve's midfield, helping the fans cease to remember the likes of Pirlo, Vidal and Pogba. Within only three years of his stay at Turin, the 31-year-old has inspired Massimiliano Allegri's side to 3 back-to-back Serie A and Coppa Italia titles.
