Real Madrid To Be Sponsored by Emirates

To add to their impressive portfolio of sponsorship deals, UAE Govt. owned Emirates Airlines are now looking to extend their sponsorship wings after having agreed a deal with the Spanish giants Real Madrid FC. The company will be presented as the club’s new sponsor on Friday.

The presentation ceremony will be held in the Presidential Balcony of the Santiago Bernabeu and is expected to be attended by a host of VIPs, including club President Florentino Perez, Emirates SVP Salem Obaidalla and Real’s first team players.

Emirates’ deal with the club, for the time being, will only cover hospitality and sign boards. The company will look to get hold of the shirt sponsorship, once the existing deal with Australian betting firm Bwin expires in 2013. The financial details of the deal is yet to be announced.

Emirates is a big player in the European football circuit, with their name displayed on the jerseys of clubs like German side Hamburg, French outfit Paris St Germain, Greek club Olympiakos and Italian giants AC Milan. However, their sponsorship deal with Arsenal is the most notable one; bagging the naming rights of the Gunners home stadium and also the 15 years shirt sponsorship deal.
