Former Real Madrid left back and Brazilian football legend, Roberto Carlos has revealed that Zinedine Zidane wants Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Over the last couple week’s Coutinho has been linked with several big European clubs like Paris St Germain, Barcelona and now Real Madrid. It’s no surprise that the Brazilian is gathering so much attention from these club’s since the 24-year-old has been in splendid form for the Reds this season. The little magician already has five goals and five assists in 11 appearances for the club in the Premier League alone.

“Zinedine Zidane has been a long admirer of Coutinho and has told club president Florentino Perez that the Brazilian is top of his wishlist.” said Carlos to Diario Madridista “Because I’m Brazilian, I’m very happy that Coutinho is doing well.”

The attacking Brazilian midfielder arrived at the club from Inter Milan in the January transfer window back in 2013 and went on to become a key player under then Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.

“I don’t know how long he has on his Liverpool contract, but Real Madrid want to sign the very best players.” he finished.

Coutinho had extended his contract with Liverpool last season which will see the little Brazilian stay at the club until the year 2020. Coutinho had expressed his delight of extending his contract with the club and stated that playing for Liverpool is “a dream come true” for him.

Liverpool over the last couple of seasons have made extraordinary profits in their transfer windows. With the likes of Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling bringing in combined profits of more than £100 million for the club. Liverpool was the fifth most profitable club in England last year.

With Liverpool bringing many talents into the club to replace the world class players who have already left, the idea of offloading Coutinho might not be a difficult decision for the owners.

And it would also be difficult for a young player like Philippe Coutinho who is just starting to show his potential to ignore such interests from clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid. Although big clubs like these offer a lot of money and fame, they also do not shy away from axing them if they do not perform to their expectations.

But there is no denying that Philippe Coutinho is one the most exciting players in the Premier League at the moment and could possibly go on to become one of the best midfielders in the world.
