Hello and welcome to the Real Madrid latest transfer news and rumours for the day! Here are the top stories surrounding the Galacticos tonight!

#3 Casilla explains Leeds move

Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla has opened up about his decision to move to Leeds United. The Spaniard had lost himself into the abyss following the arrival of Thibaut Courtois and used the January window to get an escape route.

As a result, Casilla is very happy regarding the move and said that he can’t wait to start his Leeds career.

“I am really happy, I want to start a new challenge in English football and I am really keen to start as soon as possible.”

The former Espanyol ‘keeper then revealed his intention to work with Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa, stating that he has only heard of positive things on the Argentine.

“I am really pleased to work with Bielsa, I have a lot of information from when he worked in Spain.

“I watched the teams when he worked there and I talked with former players who worked with him and they all told me amazing things about him. I am really happy to work with him.”

After that, he went on to state that his objective is to use his experience and help the Championship side and added that the most important trait for a goalkeeper is to be calm all the time.

“I want to try and help my team with my experience, but always being natural and humble. It is true I can help the team with these kind of things, but it can happen by being natural.

“I like the goalkeepers who stay calm, for me this is the best trait for a goalkeeper to stay calm and this is important in my way of play.”

#2 Eder Militao

Real Madrid’s interest in Eder Militao seems legit as numerous sources have claimed that the Galacticos have approached the player. The Porto defender has been on the radar of the Merengues for a while now but they aren’t the only one interested in him.

Manchester United were also linked to the player and so was Barcelona. The Catalans, however, opted to sign Jean-Claire Todibo on a Bosman transfer, leaving Madrid with one less competitor.

According to Marca, the Bernabeu outfit are going to pay the defender’s release clause of €50 million in order to bring him in the summer. His clause goes up to €75 million after July 15, 2019, which is perhaps why the Galacticos are in a bit of a hurry.

Meanwhile, Sportv also think that the Brazilian could join the Bernabeu as they claim that he has verbally agreed upon a deal with the Blancos.

#1 The striker conundrum

Lukaku has been targeted by Madrid

Real Madrid might be solving their defensive problems with the reported acquisition of Eder Militao but it is their attack that is in a desperate need of renovation. The Galacticos not only missed out on signing a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo but they seem to not have a proper backup for even Karim Benzema.

As a result, according to Marca, Santiago Solari brought up the issue with the Madrid board. However, his pleas fell to deaf ears as the Merengues have decided to not sign a striker in the winter market.

But then this report from Don Balon has a different outlook at things as it claims that Real Madrid are eying a move for Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku, who could cost around €120 million, which is far less than the asking price of Harry Kane.
