Real Madrid Transfer News: Neymar Wants To Stay In Brazil

Santos starlet Neymar has reiterated his desire to remain with the Copa Libertadores winners and play in the Club World Cup for them. A target for Real Madrid all summer, it was recently reported that the Spanish team had intensified efforts to sign the player and had sent down their top officials to thrash out a deal. But Neymar has his sights set on Santos at the moment.

Neymar wants to stay with Santos

Neymar, who is currently away on international duty with Brazil, held a press conference and made it clear that his shirt term targets are to stay with Santos and go as far as possible in the Club World Cup to be played in Japan at the end of the year.

He said-

“I want to stay at Santos. I am focused on the national team. I do not know anything about what is happening in Brazil or outside here,”

“I have not talked to my father or my agent. They are handling things, but I do not know anything. My wish is to play the Club World Cup for Santos.”

The player’s agent, Wagner Ribeiro has echoed Neymar’s views regarding his wish to play in the Club World Cup, but refused to comment on his future beyond that point. Speaking to Globeosporte, he said-

“Everything will be solved in August, near the end of the transfer window,”

“What I can guarantee is that Neymar’s priority is to play the Club World Cup.

“Even if Real Madrid or some other club pay his release clause, the decision belongs to the player. After Copa America, he will address this matter.”

Ribeiro revealed that both Barcelona and Real Madrid had met the release clause set for Neymar, with the difference being that Barcelona would allow him to return to Brazil for one more year, but Real Madrid wanted him to be a part of the first team immediately. Speaking to Lancenet, the agent said-

“Real Madrid and Barcelona have proposed paying the release clause. The difference is that Barcelona accept that he can stay here, in Brazil, one more year, and Real want him now. Mourinho is already planning Real’s tactics with him,”

This has been a tedious transfer saga so far, with both parties committing and then backing off in alternation. It is hoped that some sort of agreement can be reached between Santos and Neymar’s suitors after Copa America. Stay tuned for more.
