Luka Modric is the frontrunner to win the Ballon d’Or in a few days’ time. He could become the first player ever to break the duopoly of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

However, that doesn’t make him immune to the scathing tendencies of father time. At 33, he is not getting any younger. In fact, the World Cup was such a draining experience for the Croat that he is yet to recover from it.

His performances so far this season have been erratic and Real Madrid might be thinking about a potential replacement. One of the players that have been touted as his potential successor for him is Christian Eriksen.

Marca, however, state that Spurs have put up a huge price tag of €250 million for him, which is a lot considering his contract ends in 2020.
