The Spaniard returned to Madrid last year after a year-long loan stint at La Liga club Espanyol, which was later made permanent. Vazquez was on the move again as Madrid exercised their buy-back clause and brought him back to the club. The Spanish international signed a 5-year contract on re-signing with Madrid.

In his first year back at the club, the Spanish winger made 32 appearances in the first-team, scoring 4 goals and made an impression on the Madrid manager as well as the fans.

The 25-year-old winger has been impressive in the limited game time afforded to him and has impressed with his crossing and dribbling ability from the right flank, as well as his willingness to track back and help his defence.

Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has introduced several players from the youth academy to the Madrid team, with the likes of Lucas Vazquez, Nacho and Mariano, as well as youngster Marco Asensio, getting game time.

Vazquez starred in Real Madrid’s 5-1 demolition of Legia Warsaw in the Champions League group stage game last week. The winger got on the scoresheet after coming on in the 63rd minute, hitting a powerful shot into the back of the net. He then set up fellow substitute Alvaro Morata in the 84th minute with a chipped pass, which the Spanish striker duly finished. His entry onto the pitch added some much-needed pace to the Madrid team on the night.

Vazquez’s fine form for Real Madrid last season was rewarded by a call-up to Spain’s national team for EURO 2016 and made one appearance in the tournament. The Spaniard has represented his country thrice so far, making one start and two substitute appearances.
