Madrid, Nov 29 (IANS) Former Manchester United coach David Moyes was a happy man after a hat-trick by striker Carlos Vela gave his new club Real Sociedad a 3-0 home win over Elche in his home debut as coach of the Basque football club.

The win means Moyes has now taken a draw and a win in his two matches since being appointed the coach of Real Sociedad and his side have begun to climb away from the relegation zone in the Spanish La Liga, reports Xinhua.

"I am satisfied with what I saw in my debut in Anoeta, there are things which we still have to improve, but that is logical because we are still starting, but I liked the attitude of my players," said Moyes after the win Saturday.

The coach had special words for Vela, who returned to form with a match-winning display.

"He is the player who made the difference throughout the game and that was decisive in allowing us to beat Elche," he commented.

Moyes said he had seen an improvement in the win over last weekend's 0-0 draw away to Deportivo la Coruna.

"All of that is good for the confidence of the team and for the club. I have seen positive signs and we were not only good in defense, but also in attack where we were more dynamic and faster," explained the 51-year-old.

But the performance of referee Velasco Caballo, who showed six yellow cards in a game without any nasty fouls, left Moyes unhappy.

"I didn't like that. I have been in charge for two games in Spain and I can see a difference with English football in the way the referees referee. I think they have their level of tolerance too low and I don't think that helps the physical football that the fans like to see."

"I want my players to be aggressive and intense, but I don't think they commit as many fouls as are given against them," he concluded.
