Rumour: Liverpool after Saido Berahino, Diafra Sakho and Jackson Martinez

Saido Berahino: Liverpool calling?

Liverpool are looking to offload Mario Balotelli in January and have eyed up moves for three strikers to bolster their ranks in the new year, according to reports.

The report suggests that Liverpool have identified West Brom’s Saido Berahino, West Ham’s Diafra Sakho and Porto’s Jackson Martinez as their preferred targets after their summer signing of Italian forward Mario Balotelli failed big time.

The Italian has looked out of sync and more importantly, out of sorts playing in the red of Liverpool this season. The enigmatic Italian has failed to find the back of the net so far this season in the Premier League and has totaled a meagre two goals in 14 appearances for the Reds.

West Brom’s Saido Berahino has been a surprise package this season for the Baggies. The 21-year old has scored 8 goals in 18 appearances for the Midlands outfit and has seemingly hit a gear that many thought he never had in his repertoire.

Sakho meanwhile has arguably been the bargain signing of the summer in the Premier League. His pace and power has totally transformed the Hammers this season and sees them sitting in a Champions League spot, 15 games in.

Porto's Jackson Martinez is another potential forward that has been reportedly been offered to them, but is said to have a £27.5m clause in his contract, which might put the Merseysiders off.

With Daniel Sturridge injured for most parts of the season and Luis Suarez having departed to Barcelona, Liverpool have looked a poor shadow of themselves from last season. Gone is the breathtaking attacking football and intricate passing that used to leave opponents mesmerized. A failed summer recruitment drive so far has seen them languishing at 9th ?spot on the table and they would certainly do well to add to their arsenal upfront.
