Marco Reus is set to ditch the attention of all the Premier League powerhouses and set up camp in Spain, if reports from his native Germany are to be believed.
Reus is probably one of the most prized assets in the world of football at the moment and has been linked with nearly all the big teams across Europe including Premier League giants like Manchester City and Chelsea as well as fierce Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.
Borussia Dortmund’s tumultuous start to the season has many feeling that this will be Reus’s last season at the Westfalenstadion with the 25-year old refusing to sign a long-term deal without a buyout clause with the club.
While most reports have suggested that his future will be likely be in England or continue in Germany, the latest reports from German media outlet Bild, suggests that Reus would probably be heading to Spain to join either Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Reus’s contract with Dortmund runs until 2016, but a €25 million buy-out clause is set to be activated after the completion of this year. The 25-year old already has a host of admirers at the Bernabeu with head coach Carlo Ancelotti heading the line. The Italian went as far as saying Reus is "the best German player next to [Toni] Kroos and [Sami] Khedira" in a recent comment.
Although Bayern have strongly been linked with the German international in the past few months, reports suggest that they have failed to open any dialogue with their Bundesliga rivals with regards to Reus. Even the winger’s agent Dirk Hebel revealed that "it is not an issue, 'Reus and Bayern' and there are no negotiations."
Making things even more interesting are reports from Bild that suggest that Reus has been taking Spanish lessons for the last three months. While Bayern have nabbed two precious jewels in Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze from Borussia’s ranks in the last two seasons, it looks unlikely that they will be third time lucky.
