Reports: 32.2% of Real Madrid fans want Ronaldo to be dropped

Ronaldo has struggled to sustain his form from earlier in the season

The Real Madrid faithful seem to be losing patience with Cristiano Ronaldo if reports by Spanish newspaper AS are to be believed. The newspaper claims that according to a poll conducted by them a whopping 32.2% of Los Blancos fans want the Portuguese to be dropped.

After a brilliant start to the season, both Ronaldo and Real Madrid’s fortunes seem to have taken a turn for the worse with the player appearing to be struggling to emulate his early season form. He has scored only two goals in his past six Liga games, with Madrid winning only two of their past five games.

Real Madrid also lost their lead in the La Liga this week to arch rivals Barcelona after losing 1-0 to Athletic Bilbao.

What’s worse for the Portuguese superstar is arch rival Lionel Messi seeming to find his form after a shaky start. Ronaldo led Messi by 12 goals on December 13 but since then the Argentine has upped the ante and caught up with the Real Madrid no 7.

92.1 % of the fans who polled wants Carlo Ancelotti to abandon his three-man strike-force of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo in favour of a traditional 4-4-2 formation.

Gareth Bale however was the most popular choice to be dropped with 46.1%. Ronaldo came second with 32.2% and Benzema 3rd with 21.7%.
