Reports: Arsenal demand £6 million for Mikel Arteta

Arteta to Fiorentina?

Arsenal and Fiorentina are said to be some way apart in their valuations of Mikel Arteta, with The Times reporting that the Gunners are holding out for almost double the Italian side’s valuation of the player.

They believe that Fiorentina are willing to offer £3.2 million, but that Arsenal would like £6 million for their vice-captain.

Arteta is in the final year of his Arsenal contract and at 32 years old faces an uncertain future in north London.

The Gunners are believed to be targeting reinforcements in defensive midfield and have been linked with moves to bring Morgan Schneiderlin and Sami Khedira to Arsenal, casting further doubt over his prospects at the club.

This has led to speculation linking him with Fiorentina, but the two clubs are some way apart in their valuations of the player.

Arteta played 32 times for Arsenal last season and, as deputy was de-facto captain in the absence of Thomas Vermaelen, who spent most of the season on the bench.
