Thomas Tuchel enjoyed German Cup success while at Dortmund.

Arsenal have been linked with a move to bring in a new manager to replace their longest serving-manager in history, Arsene Wenger, for some time now. The Frenchman was handed a two-year extension after his side managed to rescue last season by winning the FA Cup.

Despite an in-flow of talented signings in the winter transfer window, anger amongst the Emirates faithful seems to have reached its limit, who have showed their discontent by not turning up to the home games ever since the humiliation in the EFL Cup final at the hands of Manchester City.

The board has finally been forced to take notice, as proceeds from home fixtures plummet, and are now actively in the market for a new head coach.

The heart of the matter

Thomas Tuchel has been among a number of top level managers who have been linked with a move to North London.

Earlier, Metro had reported that the chief executive of Arsenal Football Club, Ivan Gazidiz was impressed buy Allegri's ability to turn around the game at the Wembley in the Champions League round of 16 tie against Tottenham and wants to see him take over from Wenger.

But according to ESPN, the German, who had also been linked with a move to Bayern Munich has now turned down the offer from the Bundesliga Champions in interest of a move to London.

Rumour rating/probability: 7/10

This particular rumour is based on a significant amount of speculation, but it still seems increasingly likely that the Frenchman's days at the club are numbered. It would require something short of a miracle to keep, both the fans happy and the longest-serving manager in Premier League history at the club.

We're not entirely sure if Tuchel will be the man to replace the most successful manager in FA Cup history, but a replacement coming in seems destined to happen.

Author's take

Tuchel seems like a decent replacement for Wenger and could bring in some much-needed grit and energy in the side, which has been lacking for quite a while now. The fast paced, counter-attacking approach of the former Mainz and Dortmund manager will suit the Arsenal style of play.

However, with only one German Cup to show for, Arsenal could do well to reconsider a move for the German. With more accomplished managers like Massimiliano Allegri and Carlo Ancelotti still available, the North London side should look to avoid a repeat of the last decade in the Wenger era.
