Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny could be fined 20000 pounds for reportedly smoking in the showers

Arsenal’s Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is reportedly facing a fine of up to £20000 pounds for having allegedly smoked in the showers after the game against Southampton. Szczesny was at fault for both the goals conceded by the Gunners in their 2-0 loss to Southampton and reports says he was smoking in the shower post-game.

Reports suggest the goalkeeper was fined 20,000 pounds for lighting up in the shower. The incident came on the heels of his mistakes in the game against Southampton. Arsene Wenger was reportedly quite furious and according to former Arsenal midfielder, it remains to be seen whether Szczesny will return to the squad soon or will be punished further.

Several dailies contacted Arsenal but did not get any statement from the club. This is not the first time a player at Arsenal has been caught smoking, as there have been a couple of instances in the previous seasons when Jack Wilshere was caught smoking.

The first time it happened in October 2013, Wenger said “I disagree completely with that behaviour. When you are a football player you are an example and you don’t do what damages your health.” When reports came out showing Wilshere smoking last summer, Wenger’s response was much more calm, as he said, “I am not deeply concerned by it but I just want to know what happened.”
