Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher is reported to join West Ham United in the January transfer windown on loan for the second half of the season. Fletcher has been out-of-favour under new manager Louis van Gaal and has just started thrice for the Old Trafford club this season.

The Evening Standard has reported that Hammers manager Sam Allardyce is speculated to close the deal of the Scottish international with hopes of keeping the player on a permanent basis in the summer transfer window.

Fletcher’s United contract runs out in 2015

Fletcher has drawn interest from many other clubs like Valencia and West Bromwich Albion. The 30-year-old midfielder has failed to catch the eye of Van Gaal and does not seem to feature in his future scheme of things at the club. Fletcher hence feels that it is the right time to move ahead in search of better prospects, with his contract running out in the summer.

The current captain of the Scotland international team has been part of the Red Devils team from the age of 11 and has represented United in 200 matches. Fletcher overcame a serious illness, ulcerative colitis, and made a comeback to the first team after a surgery in 2013. He played his last match for Manchester United in a 2-0 FA cup win against Yeovil Town.

Relatedly, current West Ham United and former Manchester United player Ravel Morrison is being linked to a move to Serie A club Lazio after the current season.
