It might not be the player Arsenal might be too concerned to see leave but Wenger might regret it if David Ospina leaves. According to Sport, the keeper is unsettled in London and is worried about the amount of first team action he will get with Petr Cech between the sticks.
Ospina was crucial for the Gunners last season during the period when Cech was injured. He made several crucial saves against Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby as Arsenal earned a hard fought 2-2 draw.
If Ospina does leave the club then Emiliano Martinez is likely to be second choice with Wojciech Szczesny extending his loan deal at Roma for another year. The move might not worry Arsenal fans but it should considering Petr Cech is now 34 and is nearing his last years.
Szczesny might not consider leaving Roma having established himself as a fan favourite. Besiktas were supposedly interested in signing the Colombian but Arsenal apparently quoted a price they were not ready to pay.
The Besiktas president himself admitted they made an enquiry for the keeper. According to ESPNFC, he said, “Arsenal want a lot for him [Ospina] so we may have to look for alternatives, I do want Ospina and we are going to get a foreign keeper.”
Ospina was Wenger’s first choice when he managed to earn the first choice spot ahead of Szczesny two season ago but once Cech signed from Chelsea that was the end of his stint as No 1.
Ospina was away on international duty in the summer with Colombia in the Copa America. He produces several stellar displays but predictably his country were knocked out of the competition by Chile.
