Reports: Arsenal star ready to quit the club this summer

Arsenal v Ostersunds FK - UEFA Europa League
The Frenchman has come under fire flowing the League Cup Final loss to Manchester City

What’s the rumour?

According to various reports coming from England, Jack Wilshere is ready to leave Arsenal after more than 15 years at the club. The midfielder is holding out for an improved contract offer from Arsenal and is ready to quit if he is not offered one.

In case you didn’t know...

Although Jack Wilshere has been part of the first team at Arsenal since 2008, he has played only 120 times for them in the league. He also spent a couple of seasons on loan at Bolton and Bournemouth. Although he is extremely talented, his career has always been plighted due to injuries.

The midfielder is known for his quick movement, neat passing and for having good technique. He was also dubbed to be the next big English superstar by many and former England coach Roy Hodgson even tipped him for captaincy.

The heart of the matter

Wilshere is out of contract in the summer and although Arsene Wenger insists talks are progressing, that may not be the case. The player is being asked to take a 25 percent wage cut if he wants to stay at the club as they want to balance their chequebooks following the contract extension of Mesut Ozil and the high profile arrivals of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Rumour probability: 7/10

With many outlets reporting the news in England, we can indeed believe that this is a serious situation, that both the player and the club find themselves in.

If indeed, Wishere decides to leave Arsenal, there will be no shortage of suitors for the Englishman as his talent is unquestionable. It may turn out to be a huge loss for Arsenal who are already lacking good options in the centre of the park. It's best for all parties if Arsenal can sort out the situation quickly.
