What’s the rumour?

It seems as though Liverpool and Barcelona are waging a lot of wars against each other in the transfer market. For starters, the pair were linked to Adrien Rabiot and now, according to reports, Barcelona have completed a deal to bring Luka Jovic from Frankfurt.

In case you didn’t know…

Jovic is a 21-year-old striker who has taken the Bundesliga by storm. He has played in 27 games in all competitions so far this season for Frankfurt, on loan from Benfica, and has scored 19 goals in the process. As a result, many top European clubs reportedly started chasing him including Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Heart of the matter

However, it seems as though Barcelona have beaten the aforementioned duo as they are in a pole position to sign the player. Apparently, they have agreed on personal terms with Jovic and the only thing remaining is coming to an agreement with the club.

He is currently on loan from Benfica but the German outfit has announced that they will use the option to sign him outright. As a result, the Catalans will have to talk with Frankfurt to finish the deal for the player.

Rumour probability rating: 6/10

Luis Suarez is ageing and Barcelona have been looking in the market for a potential successor. Luka Jovic fits the bill since he is not only lethal inside the box, he is also a great player outside of it, thanks to his ability to link-up with his team-mates.

What’s next?

Jovic is expected to be crowned as the Golden Boot winner in Bundesliga and if that happens, his price might soar. What is certain is that he won’t come for a bargain price due to the form he is in.
