Reports: Liverpool attacker could be ruled out for five weeks

Aspas-Injury

Liverpool forward Iago Aspas has revealed that he will be ruled out for up to five weeks after picking up a thigh injury in training on Thursday.

Announcing the news on his official Twitter page, Aspas told fans that he was injured in training and could potentially face up to five weeks on the sidelines with a torn thigh muscle.

This will be a big blow to the Spaniard, after he spoke to reporters during the midweek about his frustration over a poor start to life at Liverpool.

“I’m finding it hard to be a sub at Liverpool having started games in the past few years,” Aspas told Marca. “I hope to carry on working hard and little by little to get more game time with Liverpool. I want to change the current situation.

“When I left Celta Vigo I was aware that to start for Liverpool wasn’t going to be easy. And now the team is winning and we are among the leaders in the Premier League, it’s very hard to get a game.

“Now it’s difficult to get in the Spain team because I’m playing less but I’m not worried about that. However, I will try to get in the squad.”
