What’s the rumour?

Adrien Rabiot’s situation at PSG is very well-documented. The French midfielder doesn’t want to extend his contract with the French giants and he is yet to sign a deal with any other club.

Meanwhile, Barcelona and Ajax have agreed upon the transfer of Frenkie De Jong in the summer, making the trail for Rabiot go a little cold. However, even then, according to Le Parisien, the midfielder sees himself at the Camp Nou next season.

In case you didn’t know...

Adrien Rabiot is currently suspended by PSG due to a contractual stand-off with the French giants. His manager, Thomas Tuchel, has also not asked for his suspension to be lifted.

“His situation remains the same. I have not asked for him to be reinstated. The situation remains the same — he is suspended & I accept the club’s stance on that. Nothing has changed,” Tuchel said.

The heart of the matter

According to the report, Rabiot, who has also been linked to Liverpool as well as Real Madrid and Manchester United, is “certain” that he is set to play for Barcelona next season. The reason why he is so confident is that he has an agreement in place with the Catalans but hasn’t signed anything yet.

However, if he pushes the buttons, the deal will be completed soon, the report adds.

Rumour probability/rating: 7/10

Barcelona may have signed Frenkie De Jong but they would still need another midfielder to replace Ivan Rakitic, who is expected to leave this summer. As a result, Rabiot to Barcelona could still happen.

What’s next?

The French midfielder is currently suspended by his club and it doesn’t look like PSG are going to lift it any time soon. If that happens, then he would be critically out of match practice by the time he joins another club.
