Reports: Liverpool to make €20 million bid for Real Madrid star

Crystal Palace v Liverpool - Premier League
Jurgen Klopp has problems to address

What's the story?

According to Diario Gol, Liverpool want to solve their goalkeeping quagmire with the acquisition of Real Madrid shot-stopper Keylor Navas. Florentino Perez has apparently never been a fan of the Costa Rican and wants him out of the club.

In case you didn't know...

Liverpool have been linked with a host of goalkeepers prior to this, with Roma's Alisson spearheading that list with Jan Oblak and Jack Butland trailing in his wake.

The heart of the matter

After the failures of Simon Mignolet, Jurgen Klopp has opted with Loris Karius as his first-choice shot-stopper. Even he, however, has failed to garner the trust of the Kop. Meanwhile, Keylor Navas hasn't entirely been unbeatable in front of the sticks for the Blancos.

It is for this reason that Florentino Perez wants him out of Madrid and Liverpool are the club that has shown the most interest. They are, however, unwilling to spend more than €20 million for the Costa Rican, an offer which has been deemed as ridiculous by the construction magnate.

Rumour rating: 6/10

Given that Real Madrid are being heavily linked with a move for David De Gea and Thibaut Courtois, the exit of Keylor Navas seems likely under the circumstances.

And given that Liverpool are in a desperate need of a goalkeeper, their attempts to sign Keylor Navas makes sense. But this rumour comes from Diario Gol, so you gotta take this one with a pinch of salt.

Author's take

If this season is anything to go by, then both Real Madrid and Liverpool need better goalkeepers. This move would benefit both teams as Navas, on his day, is unbeatable and his replacement at Real Madrid will definitely be a world class 'keeper.

Also, for €20 million, it would be a steal for the Merseyside outfit.
