Liverpool are lining up a contract offer to Mexican hero Guillermo Ochoa this summer to come in and provide competition for Simon Mignolet at Anfield as they have accepted Pepe Reina will leave the club on a permanent basis, as reported by the Daily Express.

Reina spent last season on loan with former Reds manager Rafa Benitez at Napoli and the Serie A club are keen on bringing him back on a permanent basis over the close season, with the Spanish ‘keeper having accepted his career with Liverpool is over.

Brendan Rodgers is keen to have two ‘keepers worthy of challenging for the number one spot in the team as he entertains the added challenge of the Champions League, and with Brad Jones having failed to impress the manager enough to suggest he is capable, Rodgers has turned his attentions elsewhere to bring in extra competition.

Both Michel Vorm and Keylor Navas are thought to be targets for Liverpool to bolster their goalkeeping options, but they now look set to turn their attentions firmly to Ochoa, who is currently a free agent after leaving Ajaccio following their relegation form Ligue Un.

Ochoa has been one of the stars of the World Cup for his performances between the sticks for Mexico, and with his Brazilian adventure now at an end, he is ready to discuss his future with any potential suitors.
