Reports: Luis Suarez overtakes Sergio Aguero as Real Madrid’s top target

Suarez: On Real’s shopping list?

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has become Real Madrid’s prime summer transfer target, ahead of Sergio Aguero, according to The Times.

Suarez has been linked with a move to the Spanish capital for quite some time and almost forced a move away from Liverpool last summer. He was made to stay and he soon changed his mind by working hard, scoring goals and then signing a new contract to keep him at the club for a few years longer.

He has scored 31 goals in the Premier League this season and Madrid did want to sign Aguero to replace Karim Benzema but they are worried about his injuries this season. Aguero has suffered from a lot of injuries this season and was replaced early at Goodison Park again on Saturday.

He has missed 14 league games this season and, despite this, has scored 17 goals in 22 games. He has suffered from groin, calf and hamstring injuries which has made Madrid change their mind and choose to pursuit Suarez, who has sustained his fitness, playing every single match in the league since returning from his ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic.

Real are also keen to explore whether the four-year contract extension that Suárez signed last December contains a definitive buyout clause after the row that developed between Arsenal and Liverpool last year over the north London club’s bid of £40,000,001.

It is understood that any bid under £100 million would not be enough for Madrid to take Suarez from Liverpool.
