Reports: Manchester United set sights on Monaco full-back Fabinho

The rebuilding continues?

With the Paul Pogba transfer still to be completed Jose Mourinho has turned his eyes towards filling another crucial position in his team. According to reports in Brazil, the Portuguese is closing in on a transfer for Monaco right-back Fabinho.

Fabinho worked with Jose during his time at Madrid before he was eventually loaned out to Monaco. He eventually made his transfer permanent and has really impressed in the last campaign.

A host clubs were reportedly after the player but if Mourinho and Manchester United come calling then it will be hard to say no to that prospect. Matteo Darmian who had a poor season under Louis Van Gaal is a player Jose doesn’t see fitting into his system.

The Italian has had a rough 12 months, first failing to impress in the Premier League and then missing the crucial penalty in the quarterfinals of Euro 2016. A return to Italy only looks like a matter of time for the 26-year-old.

Fabinho is also a goal-scoring right back. The player managed to net 8 goals in the last campaign which is a very impressive and high number. Also, the player and Darmian have the same agent which might make the negotiations a lot easier

Adnan Januzaj is also set to leave the club. The 21-year-old has not been able to build on his debut season with the club when he was touted as the next big thing and also handed the No 11 jersey earlier belonging to legend Ryan Giggs.

Now that shirt has been handed to Anthony Martial after he had to vacate his No. 9 jersey and give it to the incoming Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Adnan Januzaj is wanted by both Napoli and AC Milan according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Mourinho is looking to clear the players he considers deadweight from the club to make room for Paul Pogba and possibly Fabinho as well.
