Reports: Manchester United told £45m will buy Arturo Vidal

Man United looking to sign Vidal

Manchester United have been told my Serie A champions Juventus that midfielder Arturo Vidal is available for £45 million, according to ESPN FC.

Vidal, 27, had a successful World Cup on a personal level despite a lack of fitness. Chile were knocked out by Brazil over the weekend on penalties as Gonzalo Jara hit the woodwork with the decisive penalty, sending his country home. Vidal played well again in that game but Man Utd’s interest has existed long before the tournament in Brazil.

Reports over the weekend suggested that Man Utd were to offer Vidal a huge weekly salary to persuade him to move to Old Trafford, despite the lack of European football on offer next season and potentially the year after either.

Sources suggest United have picked up their interest in the Chilean midfielder significantly over recent weeks and now that he is no longer on international duty, that should pick up even more.

Juventus have allegedly told United that it will cost a club record fee of £45m to secure Vidal’s signature and with Man Utd willing to spend big this summer to regain their position at the top of English football, they may be okay with spending that sort of money on Vidal if they truly believe he will significantly improve them.
