Is Messi unsettled?

The rumour mill continues to generate news about Lionel Messi being unsettled at Barcelona. The latest gossip on the Argentine's possible exit from the Nou Camp come from France. Media outlet RTL has stated that Paris Saint Germain’s sporting director and Barcelona legend Patrick Kluivert is keen on bringing him to Paris.

The outlet stated that he is taking the first steps to initiating what could be the biggest ever transfer in football history. Messi has been rumoured to be unsettled at Barcelona in recent months but most of them were just that, rumours.

PSG have the money to overhaul their entire squad if they want to but they rather spend it on one player who can change the capability of their team. Kluivert has been talking to Jorge Messi and is expected to have several more meetings with him.

The hope is that these meetings would eventually lead to an agreement and convince the player and his father who is also Messi’s agent that the French capital is the place to be right now and PSG is the club to play for.

The move seems very unlikely considering the news about Messi’s contract. Barcelona are constructing a ‘contract for life’ which they are hoping Messi will sign after the El Clasico. His current deal expires in 2018 after which he could be a free agent.

The Argentine might have other ideas with some within his close circle of friends suggesting he would consider a return to his hometown club of Newell Old Boys towards the end of his career.

It has been 12 years since Messi made his debut for the Catalans. He has come a long way and has also helped the club achieve new heights they never thought they could reach since the Johan Cruyff era.

Messi rumours false claim outlet

The Messi leaving Barcelona story has been done before and they well could be false as claimed by Sport English. The Spanish site have stated that sources close to Messi and his father have told them they have not had any contact with Patrick Kluivert.

If fact, Jorge Messi apparently doesn’t know the Barcelona legend at all. If this is in fact, the truth then Barca fans have no cause for worry. Messi could be tied down to a new deal by the end of the year and all these rumours will be quashed but maybe there needs to be some worry.

The reason is simple. Messi has less than two years left on his contract. Barcelona could never afford to let him go on a free. They will have to try and get him to sign a contract before the summer because then interested parties will have the upper hand in negotiating transfer fees.

This all is just speculation at the moment. There is a high possibility Messi will commit his future to the club but Barcelona should ensure there is no room left for mistakes or complacency when it comes to their most prized asset.
