Reports: Real Madrid identify Pierre Emerick Aubameyang as the next 'Galactico'

Will he join Madrid?

Real Madrid were very quiet in the transfer window this summer as Zidane and Perez failed to reach an agreement over any particular target. There were some names that were thrown about and the Frenchman admitted he attempted to sign some of them but only Alvaro Morata re-joined Los Blancos from Juventus.

But because of the transfer ban, the club will now find it difficult to invest in the market when the window next opens. The club have had bans before but have still managed to find a way around it so it should not be much of a stumbling block.

Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had his breakthrough season last campaign scoring a ton of goals and he seems to have continued that trend this season with 6 goals in 6 games. According to AS, he has been identified as the next ‘Galactico’ by Perez and his team.

He even has a rivalry going on with Robert Lewandowski on social media, with the race for the Golden boot getting off to a flier. It was very surprising not to see Real invest in the summer but Aubameyang has been linked with the club for some time now.

The Gabonese international peaked Madrid’s interest in January and once again in June but they never moved in for him, instead opting for Morata. The striker has made no secret of the fact that he would one day want to don the white jersey.

The search for a good striker is a logical one with Benzema still not convincing Madrid fans and Morata looking like a huge bet as of now. Madrid’s transfer ban will only be lifted by January of 2018, so if Los Blancos do not find a way around the system, they will have to wait a while.

Dortmund’s Mikel Merino feels striker will fit in well at Madrid

Aubameyang’s teammate feels the striker would be a good fit for Madrid and will succeed at the club. Speaking to Goal.com he said, “Aubameyang is a bullet. I knew it [before I was converted into a defender], but when you have to defend against him as centre-back, you can feel it much more.”

“Not just because of his speed, but also for his good movements and his finishing. He's a top player. Would he fit at Real Madrid? The strikers there need to score and make a difference. He does it. He would fit, of course. He is doing what Real Madrid ask to their strikers. I don't know why he couldn't play there.”

Aubameyang looks like he would be an upgrade on Benzema on current form and would fit into the Galactico mold that Perez envisions.
