Reports: Real Madrid ready to sell Liverpool target

Real Madrid v Getafe - La Liga
The right call from Zidane?

What’s the rumour?

As per reports from Express, Real Madrid are ready to sell Dani Ceballos this summer. The midfielder was bought last summer by Zinedine Zidane but has struggled to make an impact at the club.

In case you didn't know...

Real Madrid announced the signing of Ceballos in July 2017 from Real Betis for a fee of around €18 million. The Spaniard had enjoyed a couple of good seasons at Betis which caught Madrid's eye. He has played 128 club games and is still only 21 years old.

Despite scoring a brace on his first start for the Spanish giants, the player has struggled to make an impression at the club and has started only seven games this season. As a result, he is seeking a move away from the club.

He has a contract till 2023 and is valued above £25 million.

The heart of the matter

Ceballos feels that his development is being stalled due to the limited playing time at Madrid and is ready to move on. Liverpool, Arsenal, Juventus and AC Milan are keen on the player as per reports.

Liverpool, who have been previously linked with the player, are believed to be ahead in the race for his signature as they are looking to replace Philippe Coutinho, who left the club to join Barcelona in the January transfer window. Emre Can's future is also a big question mark at the moment and Liverpool are actively pursuing replacements. Therefore, Ceballos is an attractive option for The Reds.

Rumour rating/probability - 7/10

The player is widely believed to be unhappy at the moment and will be looking for a move elsewhere if an opportunity arises.

Author’s take

Ceballos is a really talented player who needs regular playing time to continue his development. Thus, a move away from the club will bode well for the player, considering the fact that Madrid are ready to sell him if a substantial offer comes in. Madrid are ready to spend big this summer which may also affect his playing time in the future.
