What’s the rumour?

Multiple reports emerging from England suggest that Borussia Dortmund's talisman Marco Reus is wanted by both Klopp and Pochettino.

In case you didn't know...

Marco Reus has been a household name in football for a good part of the last decade. The incredibly talented German came into the picture following a string of eye-catching performances for Borussia Monchengladbach.

Borussia Dortmund signed him for €17.1 million in January 2012 and has been a key member of their squad ever since. His career has been blighted by injuries, most notably missing the 2014 FIFA World Cup as Germany ran out winners. He has played 193 games for them and has scored 91 times.

The heart of the matter

Over the years, Reus has made a name for himself as being one of the most loyal players in the game. Even when his teammates and close friends Mats Hummels, Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze had left the club to join rivals Bayern Munich, Reus did not have to think twice about staying put.

The Dortmund faithful will hope that be the case again as English clubs Liverpool and Spurs are likely to come calling for the German this summer. Reus is reportedly stalling on a new contract as he wants to know the extent of his club's ambition before putting pen to paper.

Spurs would want to add quality to their strike force as they do not have many options in the wide areas. They recently acquired Lucas Moura from PSG and would be looking to add more steel to their roster in a bid to challenge on all fronts next season.

Liverpool's attack needs no mention as they have been world class all season. A player of his calibre would make Klopp's men serious contenders for Europe's top prizes next season.

Rumour probability: 5/10

There is no concrete evidence yet to suggest a possible move for the German, but it will be interesting to see how this rumour pans out in the coming weeks.

Author’s Take

The German's contract runs out at the end of next year and there will be multiple clubs looking for his signature if he decides to move on.

If Reus can stay injury free, he willbe a quality addition to any team in Europe as he is one of those players capable of changing a game on his own. Dortmund will not be willing to sell him for cheap and will be looking to convince him to stay.
