Manchester United veteran Rio Ferdinand has quashed retirement rumors and stated that he hopes to continue playing for Manchester United according to The Guardian.

The 35-year-old made just a handful of appearances under David Moyes and will be out of contract at the end of the season, fueling retirement rumors.

“I’m going to continue playing,” the former England international said. “Whether it’s here, I don’t know. But I hope so.”

Ferdinand made his first start in ages under interim manager Ryan Giggs in the 4-0 win over Norwich City and put in a good display.

The defender has received a number of lucrative deals from overseas clubs like Galatasaray, Besiktas, LA Galaxy and Al Gharafa but prefers to continue his career in Manchester.
