Rio, with the license to kill, now on the big screen

The Sun Military Awards - London

Rio Ferdinand, the Manchester United full back, has been an asset to the club ever since his United debut in 2002 serving as a ‘wall’ against anyone daring to score against the Red Devils. His strong presence on the pitch can shivers down the opposition’s strikers, especially the small and agile ones. There’s no denying Rio, along with other defenders, has done an amazing job helping the goalkeeper maintain good track records. But now it seems that age has been getting the better of the veteran, as he not able to keep up with the younger and more agile strikers.

Now imagine a person like Rio Ferdinand with the license to kill. Rio, now on the verge of retirement, has his eyes set on the big screen for the role of England‘s most dangerous spy. Crazy as this may seem, but if this crazy idea actually does work out, then Rio will be the first black James Bond. The Manchester United defender is dreaming of a move to Hollywood when his Old Trafford career is over and sees himself as an all-action hero.

I’d go for an emotional part, something off the wall,’ he told FourFourTwo. I’ve got too much for a henchman role. I’d need for it to be, I dunno, like Luther.” says the United defender. “Or if they’re looking for a new James Bond, I wouldn’t say that’s out of my comfort zone at all.

Be it the role as James Bond, England’s most famous and dangerous spy, or as Detective Chief Inspector John Luther, in a British psychological crime drama television series, it will definitely be a treat to watch. Personally I would love to see him as 007 because it would be different to see HIM stay cool while he talks to M, Q and the bad guys. Although some guys would be really jealous because he gets to be with the gorgeous bond girls.
