Roberto Soldado wants Gareth Bale to stay at Tottenham

Nigeria v Spain: Group B - FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013

New Tottenham signing Roberto Soldado has advised Gareth Bale to remain at Tottenham Hotspur.

Soldado arrived at White Hart Lane following a £26 million move from Valencia, which saw the north London club break their transfer record for the second time this summer and strengthen André Villas-Boas’ squad for next season.

Meanwhile, Bale’s future continues to grab the headlines, as Real Madrid are pressing to sign him for a world record €100 million (£86 million) and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is seeking an even higher price. He wants Madrid’s striker Alvaro Morata, 20, to be included in the deal but the club has refused that flatly.

Instead, Real Madrid have suggested left-back Fabio Coentrao in a possible player exchange deal. It is understood that Villas-Boas is an admirer of his fellow Portuguese..

Soldado, however, wants Bale to stay at Tottenham. According to the Guardian, he said: “Bale is a great footballer and you can see the effort Tottenham are making to prevent him from leaving, of course, I want him to stay.”
