Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo donated 100000 euros, on behalf of the UEFA , to an organization for the injured people in Afghanistan.
This is not the first time Ronaldo has donated money to the same organization in Afghanistan. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has a network of seven orthopedic centers in the country. Ronaldo handed over the cheque to the organization prior to kick-off of the Champions League match against Manchester United.
Ronaldo said “For me it’s a great honour to be able to help others, and it makes me extremely happy to do so.”
In 2008, he donated a similar amount to the ICRC, which has helping more than 90000 mine victims in Afghanistan since 1988. Players like four time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez and Carles Puyol have also contributed to the ICRC.
