Ronaldo in action against Chivas

After routing Los Angeles Galaxy 4-1 last week in their pre-season friendly, Real Madrid on Wednesday thrashed another North American club Chivas Guadalaraja 3-0, courtesy Ronaldo’s Hat-trick.

Playing their second friendly in their pre-season North America tour, Real Madrid could not break the deadlock against the Mexican side in the first half though Ronaldo looked threatening. The Chivas Goalkeeper often came to the rescue of his team and successfully thwarting Real and Ronaldo for the entire first half.

The Portuguese came close to scoring in the 6th minute when his trademark free kick was successfully saved by ‘keeper Luis Michel before the 31 year old veteran saved another free header from Ronaldo.

Then as half-time approached Ronaldo fought off a defender to reach a through-ball from Mezut Ozil, only to find Michel had rushed out to close the angle. Chivas were happy to go into the break holding the visitor 0-0.

Ronaldo finally managed to break the jinx at the half-hour mark of the second half, when he split between two Chivas defender into the box to connect a Karim Benzema cross and sent the ball into the net with a right footed shot.

Three minutes later, Ronaldo scored from a penalty earned by his national team mate Pepe, after he was brought down inside the box by Chivas defender Omar Arellano. And in the 82nd minute, the Former FIFA Player of the year completed his hat-trick with a blast to the lower right corner.

Real Madrid have won two out of two games in their pre-season tour of US and they next face MLS side Philadelphia Union in Philadelphia on Saturday.
