Roy Hodgson ready to cap Saido Berahino - the exciting youngster who defeated Manchester United

Saido Berahino

Roy Hodgson is reportedly set to give West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino his England debut as part of a plan to blood more youngsters in the run-up to the 2014 World Cup, according to the Sunday People.

The Three Lions boss is considering handing international debuts to Norwich City’s Nathan Redmond and Berahino, both currently playing for the Under-21s, in an effort to bring fresh talent into the England fold.

With friendlies against Chile and Germany on the horizon, the Sunday People claims that the duo will be part of Hodgson’s latest squad next month.

The 20-year-old Burundi-born star only made his Baggies debut in August when he scored a hat-trick against Newport in the Capital One Cup and then went on to score against Manchester United in the Premier League.

Berahino has also been in top form for Gareth Southgate’s Under-21s side, netting four goals in three games since his debut for the Young Lions.

Everyone will remember Berahino’s goal against David Moyes’s Manchester United, but he has been technically accomplished for the Baggies with a 85% pass accuracy rate.
