Arsenal are reportedly very interested in signing 21-year-old La Liga talent Javi Guerra, who plays for Valencia. According to reports from Caught Offside, the midfielder is believed to have a massive release clause of €100 million. However, Valencia are willing to sell him for below €30 million.
Guerra is seen as one of the most exciting players of his age level in Spain, and he has already been linked to his next big move to a European giant. Last season, he was instrumental for Valencia, playing 40 games in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing one assist. This season, he has already participated in all four games for the club.
His consistency at the highest level in Spain will be appealing for Arsenal, who need to make changes to their midfield depth soon. The Gunners currently have Jorginho and Thomas Partey within their ranks, but the duo will see their contracts expire in the summer of 2025. Preparing for replacements ahead of that point will be key for the Gunners.
It is worth noting that the Gunners signed Declan Rice a year ago, and this summer, they signed Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad. However, more depth may be required, especially to reduce the effect of injuries on the squad. and Guerra may follow Merino's lead and leave Spain for England.
Mikel Arteta speaks about Arsenal players pushing for the Premier League title
Arsenal have ended in second place in the Premier League in two seasons in a row. They will be looking to get past Manchester City and seal the deal this time around.
Manager Mikel Arteta has spoken about how his players are feeling while revealing their keenness to fight for the title this time around. He said, during a press conference at the start of the season (via Eurosport):
"All the players were saying to me, 'We’re going to be better, we’re going to do it, we want more. They are the ones driving that ambition, so that's always positive."
Arsenal won their first two games of the season, beating Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa 2-0 each. However, they have dropped points, following their 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion. They failed to secure all three points at home after a controversial sending-off for Declan Rice.
They currently sit in fourth place, on the same points as Brighton and two points behind Manchester City and Liverpool, who have both won their first three games. They will hope to win their next match on September 15 - the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur away.
