Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly lining up their bids for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who is also wanted by Real Madrid, in January. The Spanish midfielder's name has been widely mentioned in recent months as he appears to be close to an exit from the Basque club.
Spain international Zubimendi gave us one of the summer's biggest transfer sagas as he turned down a move to the Premier League with Liverpool even after they had agreed on a fee with his club. The 25-year-old defensive midfielder has continued to impress since then, only attracting the interest of several other teams with his performances.
Caught Offside reports that Real Sociedad will be willing to part ways with the midfielder in the January transfer window. The sources say that Arsenal and Liverpool are prepared to pay up to £50 million to sign the Basque midfielder.
Zubimendi has admirers in Spain, too, with Real Madrid keeping a close eye on him ahead of potentially making a move in January.
Los Blancos have faced a serious injury crisis this season, leading the club to decide to draft midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni in defence. The result is that the club will need to recruit a specialist defensive midfielder, hence their interest in Zubimendi.
Arsenal are looking to make an addition to their midfield, seeing as both Jorginho and Thomas Partey will be out of a contract by the end of the 2024-25 season. Their interest in Zubimendi is long-standing, and having signed Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad in the summer, they may look to tempt the Spaniard.
Liverpool tried without success to sign Zubimendi in the summer and are prepared to go after him again despite Ryan Gravenberch shining in midfield. The midfielder has already accrued 17 appearances this season, scoring one goal and assisting two more for La Real.
Liverpool and Arsenal keen on Real Madrid forward - Reports
Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in signing Real Madrid star Brahim Diaz in the 2025 summer transfer window, as per Todofichajes. The Morocco international has caught the eye when called upon by his Spanish club, attracting attention.
Former Spain U-21 star Diaz began his career in England with Manchester City, where he played under present Gunners manager Mikel Arteta, who was assistant manager. The 25-year-old left the Etihad shortly after Arteta did in 2020 and established himself in three years at AC Milan.
Real Madrid took Diaz back in 2023 but have failed to give him regular opportunities to show his quality, leading to interest from England. Liverpool, like Arsenal, are interested in the forward, who has one goal and two assists in 269 minutes of action this season, as are Tottenham Hotspur.
