Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah is close to joining Hansi Flick's Barcelona in the summer transfer window on a free transfer, as per SPORT. La Blaugrana are unlikely to make big moves in the January transfer window because of the ongoing financial crisis and Fair Play woes.
However, Hansi Flick aims to offload some players and recruit new stars in the summer transfer window. As per the aforementioned report, the hierarchy at La Blaugrana values Jonathan Tah highly and have confirmed their interest in the Bayer Leverkusen defender. Flick has also coached Tah at the German national team and he's in favour of the signing.
Barcelona are in a strong position to sign the German midfielder and the deal could be finalized in the upcoming weeks.
Additionally, La Blaugrana are expected to offer Jonathan Tah a three-year deal and the final decision is expected to come before January 15. If Tah arrives, one of Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen is expected to depart from Catalonia.
Apart from Bayern Munich and Manchester United were also interested in signing the German midfielder.
Tah joined Bayer Leverkusen from Hamburger SV in July 2015 and since then, he has made 378 appearances across all competitions for the side, bagging 16 goals and 12 assists. He has also played 33 matches for the German national team.
