According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are keen on signing Fenerbahce left-back Ferdi Kadioglu. The 24-year-old, who has also been linked with Premier League giants Arsenal, is believed to be greatly appreciated by the Dortmund management.
While Kadioglu mostly operates as a left-back, he has showcased incredible positional versatility. He has also been deployed as a right-back, central midfielder, attacking midfielder and on both wings and has performed admirably all over the pitch.
He enjoyed a stellar campaign with Fenerbahce in 2023-24, bagging three goals and five assists in 52 games across all competitions. Overall, he has racked up 17 goals and 22 assists in 199 games for the Turkish giants.
Borussia Dortmund had a left-back conundrum after the departure of Portuguese star Raphael Guerreiro on a free transfer to league rivals Bayern Munich. They initially trusted Algerian Ramy Bensebaini but eventually decided to sign Chelsea starlet Ian Maatsen on a short six-month loan in January 2024.
The Dutchman was magnificent for Die Schwarzgelben, playing a crucial role in their run to the UEFA Champions League final. However, he reportedly seems to be heading to Aston Villa, after the Blues' demand of £37.5 million priced Dortmund out of a permanent move for his services.
The 1996-97 Champions League winners recently sacked manager Edin Terzic and appointed former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin as their new coach. The ex-Turkey international is believed to be a huge fan of Kadioglu, but his side could be pitted against Arsenal in an intense transfer battle.
According to Turkish outlet Ajansspor, Arsenal have already submitted a concrete offer for Kadioglu worth around €20 million. However, Dortmund then decided to increase their offer to €25 million, and their talks with the player seem to be progressing well.
Fenerbahce are believed to be holding out for a fee of around €35-40 million, which could force the Gunners to look elsewhere to solve their left-back woes.
