Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly turned down the opportunity to join another Saudi Pro League club. The Portuguese superstar wants to stay at Al-Nassr and is poised to sign a new contract soon.
As per NFC World, Ronaldo has asked Al-Nassr to sign new players and strengthen the team for the next season. Al-Hilal were reported to be the club keen on signing him as they wanted him for the FIFA Club World Cup. Ronaldo said (via Fabrizio Romano's X handle):
"It's almost decided that I will not take part at the FIFA Club World Cup despite receiving many invitations and proposals. There have been talks, contacts… but you have to think about short, medium, and long term."
Talking about his future after winning the UEFA Nations League final with Portugal, Ronaldo said (via O Jogo):
"The tears were of joy. When you win something for Portugal, it's always special, but there's nothing like winning for the national team, from my point of view. This generation deserved it and we were going to have a little luck and merit and we were going to win the final."
"We knew it was going to be difficult but we deserved it and this gives us confidence and lets us go to the World Cup with more confidence. Future? It won't change anything. Al Nassr, yes," he added.
Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in 2022 after his contract was mutually terminated at Manchester United. He has yet to win a major trophy with the Saudi side.
Cristiano Ronaldo is not thinking about retirement
Cristiano Ronaldo recently spoke to the media and revealed that he was not thinking about retirement as he was enjoying his time on the pitch. He said (via O Jogo):
"I implemented something in my life which is to live in the present and not think too much about the future. That's what I instill in my life, and it's going very well, because I'm enjoying it. I don't have many more years to be able to play. The career speaks for itself, I'm enjoying the moment."
"I don't know about giving a deadline, because maybe tomorrow I'll get up and say I don't feel like playing anymore. At the moment, I don't feel that. I'm enjoying it and I'm very happy, regardless of not winning. When you win, you have more motivation, but I'm enjoying it. Let us see what will happen," he added.
Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to feature in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
