Liverpool boss Arne Slot considering move to sign 27-year-old Premier League star with £40 million price tag: Reports

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has reportedly identified Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson as a transfer target ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window.

Robinson, 27, has lately popped up as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League due to his consistent displays for Fulham. He has helped Marco Silva's side cement themselves as a proper mid-table club since their promotion to the top-flight in 2022.

Now, according to GiveMeSport, Liverpool are mulling over a potential transfer for Robinson in the January window. They are interested in testing the Cottagers' resolve with a formal bid in the near future. However, the west London outfit are unwilling to lose the American star in the middle of the season.

Robinson, who is allegedly valued at £40 million, has made 84 Premier League appearances for Fulham since the start of the 2022-23 campaign. The former Everton youth player has laid out 10 assists in the aforesaid period of time.

Should Robinson secure a permanent move to Liverpool, he could prove to be a good signing for them. He would gradually replace Andrew Robertson as the club's first-choice left-back in Slot's 4-2-3-1 system.

Liverpool urged to offer new deal to superstar

In his column for Caught Offside, former Reds striker Stan Collymore backed his former team to break the bank for Mohamed Salah's new contract in the near future. He wrote:

"Let's not forget, one of the big things about players when they age is that their pace goes, but there's no sign of that at all. Salah's ability to get into excellent positions and be clinical is still top class, his goals and assist output is still there, and he's no trouble."

Collymore, who represented the Anfield club from 1995 to 1997, added:

"Even if you look at it from a marketing perspective, whether it be the fact that he's a high profile Muslim player from a football mad Egypt where players have huge global recognition, or otherwise, offering Salah a new deal makes absolute sense for Liverpool."

Collymore, who also played for Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, opined:

"I'm sure Liverpool haven't ignored it, and I don't think there's a situation brewing, it's just a classic game of brinkmanship, where the player or the agent says: 'Oh, woe is me, I'm not feeling the love'. The club will make appropriate comments at the right time."

Salah, 32, is in the final year of his current deal at the Merseyside outfit.

The former Chelsea man has scored 12 goals and contributed 10 assists in 19 appearances in all competitions for Arne Slot's side this campaign.
