Manchester United have reportedly reopened talks with Victor Osimhen. They are looking to sign the Nigerian striker to bolster their attack this summer.
Osimhen is set to leave Napoli before the 2025-26 season. He spent the last season on loan at Galatasaray, recording 37 goals and eight assists in 41 games across competitions. He helped them win the league title and the Turkish Cup.
As per Foot Mercato (via Get French Football News), Manchester United have now reopened talks with Osimhen. They are looking to strengthen their side after a poor 2024-25 season. They have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Red Devils scored just 44 goals in 38 Premier League games last season, with only four sides scoring fewer. The likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failed to impress. Hence, they are looking for attacking signings.
However, as per the aforementioned report, Osimhen is demanding around a salary of €12 million per year. Meanwhile, Napoli are demanding a transfer fee of €75 million. The 26-year-old has scored 76 goals and provided 18 assists in 133 games for the Italian side.
Matheus Cunha opens up after completing Manchester United move
The Red Devils have completed their first signing of this summer, welcoming Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers. They paid his release clause worth £62.5 million. The signing was completed on Thursday, Jun 12.
In an interview with the club, Cunha spoke about joining Manchester United and said (via manutd.com):
“It is hard to put into words my feelings about becoming a Manchester United player. Ever since I was a child in Brazil watching Premier League games on TV at my grandmother’s house, United was my favourite English team and I dreamed of wearing the red shirt. I want to thank my family and everyone who has helped me make that dream a reality.
“I can’t wait for the start of pre-season to get to know my team-mates and prepare for the season ahead. All my focus is now on working hard to become a valuable part of the team, and helping get this club back to the top.”
Cunha is a versatile forward who can play as a striker, second striker, either wing, or even as a #10. He joined Wolves, initially on loan from Atletico Madrid, in January 2023, before the move was made permanent that summer. He scored 33 goals and provided 15 assists in 92 games for them.
