Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Miguel Gutierrez in the January transfer window. They tried to sign him last year as well but failed in their pursuit.
The Red Devils have two main left-backs in the squad - Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia - but both have had to deal with numerous injuries. While Malacia returned to injury after 18 months this season, Shaw is out injured again. Hence, Manchester United are looking to sign a reliable left-back.
As per Mundo Deportivo (via Madrid Universal), they are targeting a potential move for Miguel Gutierrez. They made an offer for him last summer as well but failed to strike a deal with Girona.
Gutierrez came through Real Madrid's academy before securing a €5 million move to Girona in 2022. Los Blancos, though, have a buy-back clause in his contract and also reserve 50% rights on his sale. As a result, they can either sign him for €8 million in the summer or get 50% of the fee another club pays for him to Girona.
Atletico Madrid are also interested in signing Gutierrez but Real Madrid are likely to try to block that move. The Spaniard, meanwhile, is unwilling to leave Girona as of now. His contract with them expires in 2027.
Manchester United legend believes Marcus Rashford could leave in January
While Manchester United are hoping to sign new players in January, they could also potentially see players leave. Gary Neville believes Marcus Rashford could leave the club amidst his struggles. New head coach Ruben Amorim has kept the Englishman out of the squad in their last three games while the forward has himself hinted at a potential exit.
In a recent interview, Gary Neville said (via The Peoples Person):
“Marcus Rashford’s absence isn’t really a surprise any more. It’s something of the norm. You leave him out for three matches on the bounce; something really is going wrong or has gone wrong. It’s not looking great for both Marcus’ future at the club or Manchester United keeping him. I suspect it’s getting to the point in the journey where there is an inevitable ending."
Neville added:
“If you’d said to me seven or eight days ago whether Rashford could leave in January, I’d say no chance. One thing in the past with players at a big club, if you’re talking to me about it every single week, it becomes a distraction for the manager and the focal point of the press conference. That’s when it does become obvious they have to leave.”
Rashford has scored seven goals and provided three assists in 24 games across competitions for Manchester United this season. His contract with them expires in 2028.
