Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi has reportedly decided to join Arsenal this summer despite his recent links to Real Madrid. The Gunners consider Zubimendi's signing done and dusted and are counting on him for pre-season.
Multiple reports have been doing the rounds about Martin Zubimendi's future for the last couple of seasons. The Spaniard was linked to the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona in previous transfer windows, but preferred to remain at Real Sociedad. The Spanish midfielder reportedly signed for Arsenal this season, with the Gunners paying his €60 million release clause. Zubimendi was also on the radar of Real Madrid, but the LaLiga giants appear to have other transfer priorities for now.
According to The Athletic correspondent David Ornstein, Arsenal are counting on Martin Zubimendi to join them for pre-season this summer. The Gunners already have an agreement in place with Real Sociedad for this arrival. However, Sociedad reportedly asked for the deal to go through in July due to accounting reasons, which explains the delay in making it official.
Moreover, Real Madrid reportedly never officially pursued Martin Zubimendi despite liking the player. Los Blancos' decision makes sense, given that their midfield includes Fede Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurelien Tchouameni. The Spanish giants have been focusing on strengthening their defense instead, which cost them heavily last season.
Arsenal in the race to sign Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo this summer: Reports

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal are reportedly looking to sign Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo this summer. The Brazilian superstar's future is believed to be uncertain at the Bernabeu.
The Gunners are reportedly impressed by Rodrygo's versatility, as he can play in all three attacking fronts. Moreover, since Kylian Mbappe's arrival last summer, Rodrygo has not been a consistent starter for Los Blancos. He made 51 appearances for Real Madrid this season, recording 14 goals and 10 assists across competitions.
The aforementioned report suggests that Arsenal will prioritize signing a striker and a left winger this summer, and Rodrygo can excel in both departments. However, his current deal with Los Blancos runs until June 2028, and the Gunners may have to pay a massive fee to secure his services.
The report also claims that Rodrygo is expected to discuss his future at Real Madrid with new coach Xabi Alonso next week. If he remains a part of Alonso's plans, he could also end up staying at the club. However, Arsenal's offer could be a lucrative one if he looks for an exit and wants guaranteed playtime.
Apart from the Brazilian, the North London side are reportedly also interested in Nico Williams and Leroy Sane to reinforce their left wing. Overall, sporting director Andrea Berta will look to revamp the Gunners' attack to continue competing at the highest level.
