Mohamed Salah once again embroiled in club vs country row as Egypt want Liverpool attacker for Paris Olympics: Reports

Mohamed Salah has found himself having to choose between his duty to his country Egypt and his club Liverpool. The superstar was widely expected to follow the Reds for pre-season in the United States after the summer break had concluded. However, Egypt wishes to have their talisman feature in this summer's Olympics instead.

The African nation will seek out a response from Salah's club regarding the Olympic games in Paris. Head coach Ruggero Micali has already openly revealed his wish to have Salah available for the tournament. He said (via Liverpool Echo):

"We are still awaiting the outcome of communication with Salah and his club Liverpool through the Egyptian Football Association. We definitely want him with us. I wish Salah could play with us at the Olympics.
"As I said earlier, it is always good for a player to be involved, we do not interfere in players' clubs about whether or not they are in the squad, our job is to determine who can help us, and obviously if many of them do not play, they may arrive at matches without fitness, and this is not good."

However, this will not be too easy for the Merseyside giants to accept. If Egypt do make it to the final of the Olympic Games, they will play their last match on August 9, which is only a week before the Premier League begins.

This means Mohamed Salah will not be available for their pre-season tour in the US in late July and early August. The last time he had to leave Liverpool in the middle of the season was during the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, which he returned from with a hamstring injury.

It is uncertain if the Anfield giants will agree to Salah leaving for the Olympics, especially with new management coming into the club this summer.

Mohamed Salah opens up about relationship with former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

After a 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, Anfield stood still to say goodbye to Jurgen Klopp for spending nine amazing years with the club. The manager also announced the new head coach in Arne Slot before he spent time with his players in the midst of onlooking fans.

Mohamed Salah talked to Sky Sports about life at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp and said (via GOAL):

"The thing I take from that as a human being, as a person, if I am in trouble I can speak to him and ask as a person. I think we will keep the communication for sure forever, for life. Because it is not just a relationship with work, we also take it outside and we are going to stay in contact forever."

Mohamed Salah and Klopp notably had a public spat during the 2-2 draw against West Ham United on April 27 but that seems to now be water under the bridge.
