Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Manchester United's Lisandro Martinez in 2025, according to TBR Football. The LaLiga giants are in the market for a new defender amid a series of injuries at the back.
Eder Militao ruptured his ACL last month against Osasuna and is now ruled out for the rest of the season. The Brazilian joins David Alaba on the sidelines, with the Austrian yet to return from a similar injury picked up in 2023.
Interestingly, Alaba and Antonio Rudiger are both on the wrong side of 30 and it is pivotal for Los Blancos to lay down succession plans. Real Madrid reportedly have Arsenal defender William Salaba and Tottenham Hotspur's Cristian Romero on their radar for the job.
The LaLiga giants have now added Martinez to their wish list. The 26-year-old has been rock solid for Manchester United since following Erik ten Hag to Old Trafford from Ajax in 2022.
Martinez was vital in the Red Devils' FA Cup final win against Manchester City last season, even earning praise from Pep Guardiola. He helped La Albiceleste win the Copa America over the summer and looks a perfect fit for the left center back role under Ruben Amorim.
As such, Manchester United are unlikely to entertain any offers for the player. Martinez is under contract with the Red Devils until 2027, so the Premier League giants are under no pressure to let him go. Real Madrid, as such, may have to turn their attention elsewhere.
Are Real Madrid eyeing another Manchester United defender?
Lisandro Martinez may not be the only Manchester United player on Real Madrid's radar. The LaLiga champions have regularly raided their Premier League counterparts in the past, most famously signing Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.
A recent report from GIVEMESPORT suggests that Los Blancos have their eyes on Ronaldo's Portugal teammate Diogo Dalot. Real Madrid are looking for a new right-back to eventually replace Dani Carvajal and apparently have their eyes on Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold.
However, they are keeping contingency plans ready if the Englishman ends up signing a new deal with the Reds. Dalot has been identified as an option for the job.
The 25-year-old has registered two assists from 22 appearances across competitions this season for Manchester United. Although the Red Devils are reluctant to let him leave, Los Blancos apparently believe that they can convince them to let Dalot go for £45m.
