Real Madrid are looking ahead to the FIFA Club World Cup, which will kickoff on June 14. Los Blancos have already appointed Xabi Alonso as their new manager ahead of the tournament.
Meanwhile, the LaLiga champions are unlikely to secure the services of a Bundesliga midfielder this summer. Elsewhere, David Alaba's future at the Santiago Bernabeu hangs in the balance.
On that note, let's look at the major Real Madrid transfer stories from June 9, 2025.
Real Madrid unlikely to sign Angelo Stiller

Real Madrid are unlikely to sign Angelo Stiller this summer, according to journalist Joaquin Maroto. The LaLiga giants are looking to add more quality to their midfield, with Luka Modric set to leave the club this summer.
Meanwhile, the Santiago Bernabeu hierarchy are yet to rope in an able replacement for Toni Kroos, who retired last year. Recent reports have suggested that Stiller has been identified as an option for the job.
The German midfielder has been on the rise with VfB Stuttgart of late, and helped them win the DFB Pokal this season. Stiller ended the campaign with four goals and 11 assists from 47 games.
It was previously believed that Los Blancos would make a move for the player this year. However, the transfer now looks unlikely for various reasons.
Stiller apparently has a €36m release clause in his contract, but it will only be activated next year. Meanwhile, VfB Stuttgart supposedly have an option to increase the clause by paying the 24-year-old a €2m bonus.
Stiller is under contract with the Bundesliga club until 2028, and will only be allowed to leave for more than €50m this summer. Real Madrid are unwilling to pay such a fee for a player they believe won't be a guaranteed starter at the Santiago Bernabeu. As such, Los Blancos have ended their pursuit of the German.
Xabi Alonso makes David Alaba decision

Xabi Alonso is planning to inform David Alaba that he won't be guaranteed regular game time next season, according to Defensa Central. The Austrian defender's contract with Real Madrid runs until 2026, and he is one of the highest earners at the club.
The LaLiga giants are now concerned about the player's long-term fitness, especially since he has missed over 100 games for club and country in the past three season. That includes a lengthy absence due to an ACL injury picked up in December 2023.
Alonso is set to have an honest conversation with the player during his first training session as Los Blancos manager on Monday. The Spaniard will inform the 32-year-old that he won't be a first team regular next season. Interestingly, David Alaba wants to stay with Real Madrid and the report adds that Alonso will be happy to have him around as well.
Los Blancos want Martin Zubimendi

Real Madrid have turned their attention to Martin Zubimendi, according to Diario AS. The Spanish midfielder is wanted at Arsenal as well, but the LaLiga giants are apparently looking to hijack the deal.
Zubimendi has been outstanding for Real Sociedad of late and apparently would prefer to remain in Spain. The player reportedly has a €60m release clause in his deal, but Los Blancos are planning a player-plus-cash offer for the 26-year-old.
