Martial set to leave ManUtd for Aston Villa?

Aston Villa have reportedly set sights on signing Anthony Martial on loan from Manchester United this summer. Villa manager Unai Emery wants to add firepower upfront and believes the Frenchman can suit his style.

As per a report in Football Transfers, Martial is the latest name on Emery's wishlist at Aston Villa ahead of the summer window. They are plotting a loan move with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Erik ten Hag has admitted that he cannot count on Martial as the striker's fitness record is not the best. He hinted that it was time for the Red Devils to move on from the former AS Monaco star and said (via Sky Sports):

"It's difficult to say because the history says different. I want him to be because he's a great player – he definitely has the qualities to play in top football – and when he is fit our team plays better. I think he can play across the front. For me, he's best at centre-forward, but he can play in the wide position as well."

Martial has scored five goals in the league this season in 19 matches for Manchester United.

Aston Villa target told to leave Manchester United

Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has urged Manchester United to sell Anthony Martial. He believes that the striker is not good enough for the Red Devils and should be thinking of an exit permanently and not on loan.

He told Lord Ping:

"Martial has been here for seven years now, he's looked good in spells and was very promising. But you can't be going on loan at the age of 26 or 27, that's for people who are 21 years old or younger. Once Martial went on loan, that should have indicated that his time is done at the club, like how it did when Jesse Lingard went on loan. When you go on loan and come back, you don't come back the same, not at that age."

The Red Devils have been linked with Victor Osimhen, Harry Kane and Lautaro Martinez this summer.
