Ex-Liverpool and Real Madrid striker Michael Owen has asserted that he is prepared to offer advice to Los Blancos target Trent Alexander-Arnold amid transfer speculations.

Alexander-Arnold, 26, has been a hot topic of discussion since the start of the ongoing 2024-25 season. With him in the final year of his Reds deal, the England international has allegedly been linked with a permanent move to Real Madrid.

Speaking recently to The Telegraph, Owen claimed that no Reds fan should be angry at their vice-captain if the latter decides to leave as a free agent next summer. He remarked:

"The Trent situation is an interesting one. Trent has done everything for Liverpool. He adores Liverpool. If he goes, no one should begrudge him a different experience in his life and career. Whatever happens he should be regarded as a hero. Sadly, it does affect the way people view you. It will tarnish him in some eyes even though it shouldn't."

Owen, who left the Reds to move to Real Madrid in 2004, concluded:

"Trent's got my number. A few of the lads have owned horses at my stables, but we generally don't talk football unless I am working. But I would be at the end of the phone for anyone who wanted to discuss it. He is a sensible lad. He has to weigh all that up. If he wants to play in that white kit, in that amazing stadium with his mate Jude Bellingham, it must be tempting."

Alexander-Arnold, who made his senior debut in October 2016, has helped Arne Slot's side lift eight trophies so far. The right-back has scored 19 goals and laid out 83 assists in 325 games across competitions for his boyhood club so far.

Liverpool keen to snap up Real Madrid target

According to Caught Offside, Liverpool are keen to snap up Bologna star Sam Beukema amid doubts over Virgil van Dijk's future at the club. They view the player as a cheaper option than other transfer targets like Goncalo Inacio and Murillo.

However, Arne Slot's outfit are unlikely to be unopposed in their pursuit of the Dutchman. They are expected to face stiff competition from Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus in the transfer race for the right-footed star's services.

Beukema, who left AZ Alkmaar for around £7 million in the summer of 2023, is a key starter at Bologna. The 26-year-old centre-back has helped his club register 18 clean sheets in 49 total outings, registering two goals in the process.
